Canadian Finals Breakaway Championship Bronze by renowned western artist Linda S. Stewart.  The bronze, titled “Close to My Heart” depicts a cowgirl, horseback with her rope and her dogs.   We felt this bronze beautifully captures the essence of cowgirls today and is a fitting trophy for the winner of the first Canadian Finals Breakaway Championship.  Valued at $5500.

About the Artist:

Linda was born in 1950 and grew up riding horses.  Her artistic talents became evident at a very early age.  She has been sculpting since 1979 and is well known for the subject matter she chooses – cowboys, horses, and dogs in typical ranch settings and wildlife.

Linda was honoured by being inducted into the Calgary Stampede Western Art Show Hall of Fame during the 2012 Calgary Stampede.  She has received several Best in Show Awards and Collectors Choice Awards.  One of her most well known pieces, a life size bronze aptly titled  “Roundup”, sits in front of the Calgary Stampede Round Up Center.
